The Hatters conceded their County Cup crown last weekend in a frustrating 3-1 defeat to Bedford LFC completing a run that has yielded just one win in six matches as they approached their first home outing in nearly two months.
It didn’t begin well for them, however, as the Dons moved ahead inside the opening quarter of an hour with Katie Stanley providing the finishing touch.
And the visitors doubled their advantage with twenty-nine minutes on the clock Stanley turned provided to lob the ball into the path of Caroline Bisson to head home.
Luton attempted to respond after the break but saw their visitors establish a seemingly unassailable lead on the hour mark as Bisson unleashed a super strike from distance that flew beyond Jessica Devoti.
Goals from Funmi Babalola and Nicola Henman did much to reduce the arrears and put Wimbledon under pressure in the closing stages but it was too little too late as Luton succumbed to another loss.
Four league matches remain for the girls to try finish as high up in the table as possible with a date at Kenilworth Road to come on Thursday against Actonians Ladies, KO 7.45pm.
